Idea development
I changed my mind in the middle of this project process.At first I wanted to track yelp data to see if take-out had become the dominant method of dining out during the Covid period. In the first stage I just sketched and collected api data, and didn't pay much attention to the content of the data. When I started to analyze the data I found that the results were not what I had hoped to see, and that some places did not have as many take-out restaurants even though the case numbers there are very high.Then I start to change my idea, I am trying to focus on something I am interested in. Consider context is the feminst data principles I choose to reference. By analyzing the eye color and gender of the characters of superheroes and Studio Ghibli, I wanted to explore how the designer portrays different characters depending on the contexts.
Design Reflection
I used the collected color data to represent eye color, using purple for males and orange for females. The outermost circle is the data f Studio Ghibli character, and the inner circle is the data of superhero. Through the statistics I found that when the designers are portraying superheroes they are more likely to use the color that not exsit in the real world. while Studio Ghibli mostly uses some real-life eye colors to portray the characters. At the same time, the male characters of superheroes are far more than female characters, while Studio Ghibli portrayal of male and female characters is more even.I think they are also based on audience to portray the character, Studio Ghibli film type is mostly close to our lives, while many superheroes are not the same existence as us.I transformed the whole data into the shape of big eye. I basically use the basic shape to represent the api data.I think this work is very challenging and I did learn lots of thing from it.
